Habitat
Eucalypt woodlands, drier forests on foothills, plains, roadside timber, timbered watercourses, bush dams, inland malle when in blossom.

Range (Guide)
Australia (B).

Victoria and occasionally the adjacents parts of New South Wales, southern South Australia and Kangaroo Island. Also southern and south-western areas of Western Australia.
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Food
Nectar, pollen, native and cultivated fruits and berries.

Voice
A rapid shrill trilled 'tsi-i-it', given constantly, in contact in flight. Lacks the tone of the Little Lorikeet (Glossopsitta pusilla) and is longer. Shrill twittering while feeding.

Nest
In a hole of a tree.

Eggs (Guide)
3 or 4; white; round; about 20 x 17 mm. Incubation: probably by female.

Young
Leave the nest in about 28 days and within a further two or three weeks are independent of their parents.

Subspecies
Forms a parapatric species pair with Little Lorikeet (Glossopsitta pusilla).

No subspecies.

Similar Species
Little Lorikeet (Glossopsitta pusilla), which lacks the red underwings and has a red face.
