Coasts of southern Peru and Espírito Santo (central-eastern Brazil) south to Tierra del Fuego, including Falkland Is. In austral winter extends north to Ecuador and Bahia (central-eastern Brazil).
 
Population
Estimated population is 25,000 - 1,000,000 (2010).
