Abundance (Guide)
LC

Habitat
Young, thick, conifer plantations and mixed woodlands with thick understorey.

Range (Guide)
China (mainland) (B), Myanmar (B).

North-eastern Burma, extreme south-eastern Tibet and south-western China (from western Sichuan south to Yunnan and western Guizhou). Introduced very locally to British Is.
 
Localized to Bedforfordshire.
 
Population
Estimated population is 20,000 - 49,999 (2010).

Food
Seeds, plant shoots, buds, roots and some insects.

Voice
A metallic crowing call, during the breeding season, that is similar to that of the Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus).

A shallow scrape on the ground, under thick cover, sparsely lined.
