Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry grassland.
Chad, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania [United Republic of], Uganda.
Locally in Chad (L Chad), eastern Sudan, south-central Ethiopia, north-eastern DRCongo, Uganda, north-western and south-western Kenya and northern and south-western Tanzania.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Possibly forms a superspecies with Horsfield's Bushlark (Mirafra javanica ), Singing Lark (Mirafra cantillans ), Monotonous Lark (Mirafra passerina ) and Melodious Lark (Mirafra cheniana ).
Isolated population in south-western Tanzania originally separated as subspecies rukwensis , considered unwarranted.
