Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Chubb's Cisticola (Cisticola chubbi) and Hunter's Cisticola (Cisticola hunteri), and apparently also with undescribed "Kilombero Cisticola" from south-eastern Tanzania.

No subspecies.
