Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- guttata (Heuglin, 1862) - Southern Sudan, north-eastern DRCongo, Uganda and north-western Kenya.
- intercalans Clancey, 1986 - South-western Ethiopia south to central Kenya and central Tanzania.
- rufipennis Sharpe, 1901 - Southern Somalia, eastern Kenya and north-eastern Tanzania.
