(Hodgson, 1854)

Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From 600 - 1,200 m, occasionally 300 - 1,800 m.

Range (Guide)
Bangladesh, Bhutan, China (mainland), India, Laos (B), Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Vietnam.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

  • albogularis (Hodgson, 1854)   -  Eastern Nepal, north-eastern India (east to Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur), Bhutan and eastern Bangladesh east to western Myanmar and southern China (southern Yunnan).
  • hugonis Deignan, 1938   -  Northern and eastern Myanmar and north-western Thailand.
  • fulvifacies (Swinhoe, 1870)   -  Southern China (Sichuan, southern Shaanxi, Hubei and Anhui south to Yao Mts of Guangxi, coastal Guangdong, Fujian, also Hainan), Taiwan, northern and central Laos and northern and central Vietnam (Tonkin, central Annam).
