Andes in north, eastern and south-eastern Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Chuquisaca, Tarija) and north-western Argentina (Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, Tucumán, La Rioja).

Subspecies
Probably forms superspecies with White-tipped Dove (Leptotila verreauxi), although the two overlap widely in north-western Argentina. Southern populations sometimes awarded separate subspecies, saturata, on basis of stronger ruddy tinge.
