Subspecies
Closely related to White-tipped Swift (Aeronautes montivagus).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
saxatalis Woodhouse, 1853 - South-western Canada south through western USA to southern Mexico (Oaxaca) west of Caribbean lowlands.
nigrior Dickey & van Rossem, 1928 - Southern Mexico (Chiapas) to central Honduras.
