Habitat
Subtropical and tropical dry grassland.

Range (Guide)
Afghanistan (B) (NB), China (mainland), Egypt, Iran [Islamic Republic of], Iraq (NB), Israel, Jordan (B) (NB), Kazakhstan (B), Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Turkey (B), Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

Vagrant to Kuwait, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.

South-central and south-eastern Turkey, Israel and north-eastern Egypt (Sinai) east to central Jordan, northern Iraq, northern Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkmenistan, central, southern and eastern Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, north-western and northern China (Xinjiang east to Inner Mongolia and Gansu), south to northern Afghanistan and western Pakistan (Baluchistan). Winters also to Syria, southern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan (Chitral and North-West Frontier Province).
