South-eastern Mozambique (Beira area south to Inhambane, and southern from Maputo) and north-eastern South Africa (coastal belt south to south of Richard's Bay, in KwaZulu-Natal).

Estimated population is unknown (2010).
Status NT
Destruction of coastal forest habitat, particularly by commercial logging and afforestation with non-native tree species, is the main threat.
