Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland and montane moist forest.
Bhutan, China (mainland), India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam.
Eastern Nepal and north-eastern India (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh) east to southern China (south-eastern Xizang, southern Sichuan, western Yunnan), Myanmar, north-western Thailand, northern and central Laos and northern Vietnam (Tonkin, northern Annam).

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
olivea (McClelland, 1840) - North-eastern India to southern China, Myanmar, north-western Thailand, northern Laos and Tonkin.
chiangmaiensis Renner et al., 2008 - Northern Thailand to northern Vietnam.
