Central Colombia (from Quindí­o Mts, in central Andes, south to eastern slope of Andes of Pasto) south to extreme northern Ecuador (Carchi, northern Napo). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Black-collared Jay (Cyanolyca armillata).
