Malawi (B), Mozambique (B), South Africa (B).

Male calls a fast 'tuttuttuttut', and answered by femaile with slower 'clink-clink-clink'.

Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- caniviridis Hanmer, 1979 - Lower R Shire valley, southern Malawi.
- ruddi Grant, 1908 - Southern Mozambique between R Save and R Nkomati.
- fumosa Clancey, 1966 - Extreme southern Mozambique (Maputo), eastern Swaziland and eastern South Africa (northern KwaZulu-Natal).
