Habitat
Arid montane scrub, Polylepis forest and disturbed habitats. From 2,550 - 4,000 m.
Argentina (B), Bolivia (B).
Montane basins and pre-puna of southern Bolivia (southern La Paz to Potosí and Chuquisaca); also reported from Cota-cota (northern La Paz).
 
Population
Estimated population is 10,000 (2010) and decreasing.
Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through heavy grazing by livestock and the uncontrolled use of fire is the main threat.
