Habitat
Subtropical and tropical montane moist forest. From 1,200 - 3,500 m.
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico.
Eastern and southern Mexico south to Honduras and northern El Salvador.

Estimated population is 20,000 - 49,999 (2010).

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Formerly treated as subspecies of Glossy-black Thrush (Turdus serranus ), but rather smaller, with different song, and female has distinctive underwing-coverts.
