North-eastern Brazil north of Amazon (Amapa). Also known as cristanae. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Sooty Barbthroat (Threnetes niger). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Pale-tailed Barbthroat (Threnetes leucurus).
