Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest, moist savanna. From sea-level - 500 m.
Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela.
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
- pallida Phelps & Phelps Jr, 1952 - Western and central Venezuela and possibly north-eastern Colombia.
- leucopyga (Spix, 1825) - Eastern Venezuela east through the Guianas and northern Brazil.
- exigua Friedmann, 1945 - Southern Venezuela and eastern Colombia.
- latifascia Friedmann, 1945 - Extreme southern Venezuela.
- majuscula Pinto & Camargo, 1952 - Western and central Brazil and northern and eastern Bolivia; recently recorded in north-eastern Peru.
