Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
schomburgkii (Schomburgk, 1848) - Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela and the Guianas. Also south-eastern Peru and Bolivia (racial affinities not clear).
chapmani (Naumburg, 1930) - Central to south-eastern Brazil.
