Nest
A deep, thick-walled cup of grass, situated in a grass tussock.
Subspecies
Possibly related to African Pipit (Anthus cinnamomeus) and A. pseudosimilis.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
mallablensis Colston, 1987 - Coast of southern Somalia from 30 km north-east of Mogadishu south to c. 1º north.
melindae Shelley, 1900 - Southern Somalia (southern from lower R Juba and lower R Shabelle and, on coast, from Mogadishu) south to coastal Kenya (south to lower Tana Valley and Mombasa).
