Subspecies
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:

furensis (Lynes, 1926) - Eastern Chad and western Sudan.
scotocerca (Heuglin, 1869) - Red Sea hills in north-eastern Sudan and northern Eritrea.
turkana (van Someren, 1920) - Southern Ethiopia, eastern Uganda and northern and north-central Kenya.
spectatrix (Clarke, S, 1919) - Awash Valley (eastern Ethiopia) and adjacent northern Somalia.
validior (Berlioz & Roche, J, 1970) - North-eastern Somalia.
