Somalia (B).

Coasts of northern and north-eastern Somalia.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and stable.

Status DD
Competition from Speckled Pigeon (Columba guinea), which is expanding its range very rapidly.

Habits
Ground-feeding, rock-dwelling.

Food
Seeds, cultivated grains, berries.

Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Yellow-eyed Pigeon (Columba eversmanni). Also closely related to Stock Dove (Columba oenas).

No subspecies.

Similar Species
Within its range it might be confused with Feral Pigeon (Rock Pigeon (Columba livia)) which is larger and much darker.
