• niansae (Reichenow, 1887)   -  Eritrea, western Ethiopia, eastern Uganda, western Kenya and northern Tanzania; winter records from northern and north-eastern Zaire, north-western Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya.
• somalicus (Clarke, S, 1919)   -  Northern Somalia and adjacent Ethiopia; some birds winter in Kenya.
