Subspecies
Has been considered probably conspecific with Beautiful Rosefinch (Carpodacus pulcherrimus).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Beautiful Rosefinch (Carpodacus pulcherrimus).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
waltoni (Stresemann, 1930) - Eastern Himalayas to west-central China. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Beautiful Rosefinch (Carpodacus pulcherrimus).
eos (Stresemann, 1930) - Alpine scrub and forests of central China and Tibet.
