Known only from right bank of R Madeira in west-central Brazil (Rond�nia) and northern Bolivia.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2012).

Subspecies
Usually considered a subspecies of Versicolored Emerald (Amazilia versicolor), but on basis of reported sympatry without interbreeding, probably better considered a distinct species.

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Versicolored Emerald (Amazilia versicolor).

No subspecies.
