Habitat
Savanna-like areas, grassland, forests, rural gardens, plantations. Mainly below 1,000 m.

Range (Guide)

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay (B).

North-eastern and south-central Bolivia (Beni, Santa Cruz, Chuquisaca, Tarija), Paraguay and central and south-eastern Brazil (Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais to S�o Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul) to Uruguay and northern Argentina (south to Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Santa Fe, Buenos Aires).

Subspecies
Some authors recognize a subspecies platensis (southern Brazil), but size differences and more intense coppery gold on underparts appear to refer to clinal variation.
