Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Common Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus).
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- sibilla (Linnaeus, 1766) - Madagascar (except northern massif and central area).
- tsaratananae Milon, 1950 - Tsaratanana Massif, in northern Madagascar.
- ankaratrae Salomonsen, 1934 - Ankaratra Massif and adjacent central part of western savannas, in central Madagascar.
