Subspecies
No subspecies.
Genus as presently constituted is probably polyphyletic, and in need of further study. Syringeal characters suggest that present species and Buff-banded Tyrannulet (Mecocerculus hellmayri), which form a superspecies, as well as White-banded Tyrannulet (Mecocerculus stictopterus), are possibly close to Camptostoma, Inezia and relatives.
