Voice
Similar to that of Rufous-and-white Wren (Thryophilus rufalbus). Several low-pitched, slow, mellow, bouncing whistles, preceded by higher notes.

No subspecies.
Taxonomic status uncertain, possibly a well-marked subspecies of Rufous-and-white Wren (Thryophilus rufalbus). Further study is required, especially of vocalizations (including alarm calls).
Similar Species
Rufous-and-white Wren (Thryophilus rufalbus) which has uniform bright rufous upperparts.
