Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry grassland, temperate grassland, dry savanna. From sea-level - 2,000 m.
Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania [United Republic of], Uganda.
Eastern Sudan through Ethiopia to north-western and southern Somalia, north-eastern Uganda, north-western and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania.

Subspecies
Genus frequently merged with Eupodotis. Forms superspecies with Black-bellied Bustard (Lissotis melanogaster).
