Islands of Cousin, Cousine and Frégate, in Seychelle Is. Introduced on D'Arros (Amirantes Is), Aride and Denis.
 
Population
Estimated population is 3,500 (2010) and stable.
Status NT
Competition and predation from introduced species (cats, brown rats Rattus norvegicus and black rats Rattus rattus) is the main threat.

Food
Insects and invertebrates, seeds, nectar and fruits. Also depredates eggs of other species, especially seabirds.
Voice
A 'tsk tsk' contact call and chattering alarm call.
Similar Species
Female, juvenile and non-breeding male Madagascar Red Fody (Foudia madagascariensis) are similar, but lack yellow wash across face and have more streaked upperparts.
