Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist lowland forest. From sea-level - 1,100 m, occasionally up to 1,500 m.
Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela.
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- bambla (Boddaert, 1783) - Extreme eastern Venezuela (eastern Bolívar), the Guianas and northern Brazil (Roraima east to Amapá).
- caurensis von Berlepsch & Hartert, 1902 - Southern and south-eastern Venezuela (southern Bolívar, Amazonas) and extreme eastern Colombia.
- albigularis (Sclater, PL, 1858) - Eastern Ecuador (Sucumbíos, Napo, Pastaza), eastern Peru and north-western Brazil (NAmazonas).
