Plain-breasted Hawk (Accipiter ventralis) [XC275706]
by Eliana Fierro-Calder\u00f3n from Imbabura: Hda La Florida, Ecuador (call)
Often considered subspecies of Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus), or alternatively of Rufous-thighed Hawk (Accipiter erythronemius), forming superspecies with these two and White-breasted Hawk (Accipiter chionogaster). The group has been split on grounds of differences in morphology, ecology and probably also behaviour.
