Forms a superspecies with Louisiade White-eye (Zosterops griseotinctus), Banded White-eye (Zosterops vellalavella), Ganongga White-eye (Zosterops splendidus), Splendid White-eye (Zosterops luteirostris) and Solomon Islands White-eye (Zosterops kulambangrae), possibly with Kulambangra White-eye (Zosterops murphyi) also a member of same group. Sometimes considered conspecific with Louisiade White-eye (Zosterops griseotinctus).
