Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest and shrubland. Also, heavily degraded former forest, rural gardens.

Range (Guide)
New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Probably forms a species group with Mangrove Gerygone (Gerygone levigaster) and Western Gerygone (Gerygone fusca).

The following 5 subspecies are recognised:

  • citrina Mayr, 1931   -  Rennell, in south-eastern Solomons. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Rennell Gerygone (Gerygone citrina).
  • correiae Mayr, 1931   -  Banks Is and northern Vanuatu.
  • rouxi (Sarasin, 1913)   -  Ouvea, in northern Loyalty Is.
  • lifuensis (Sarasin, 1913)   -  Lifou, in central Loyalty Is.
  • flavolateralis (Gray, 1859)   -  New Caledonia and southern Loyalty Is (Mare).
