Habitat
Dense understorey of forest patches, thickets and gallery forest along the upper courses of rivers. From 1,300 - 1,800 m.

North-eastern DRCongo: Lendu Plateau (between Nioka and Djugu) and scattered localities between Beni and Butembo (Nwest of L Edward).

Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status EN
Habitat destruction through logging is the main threat.

Seeds, fruit, small caterpillars.
Subspecies
No subspecies.
May form a species pair with Joyful Greenbul (Chlorocichla laetissima).
Similar Species
Could be confused with Joyful Greenbul (Chlorocichla laetissima) or Yellow-bellied Greenbul (Chlorocichla flaviventris), but smaller and darker.
