Extreme south-eastern Panama to north-western Ecuador.

Subspecies
Hylocharis grayi (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Gray's Hummingbird (Amazilia grayi) and Humboldt's Hummingbird (Amazilia humboldtii) following SACC (2005).

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Gray's Hummingbird (Amazilia grayi).

No subspecies.
