Vagrant to USA.

Subspecies
Closely related to Chrysolampis, and may even be congeneric.

The following 4 subspecies are recognised:

exilis (Gmelin, JF, 1788) - Eastern Puerto Rico south through Lesser Antilles to St Lucia.
ornatus Gould, 1861 - St Vincent.
cristatus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Barbados.
emigrans Lawrence, 1877 - Grenadines and Grenada.
