Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry shrubland in the interior.

Range (Guide)
St Helena (E) (B).

Ascension Island (St Helena) (UK).
 
Status EX
Known from numerous bones, and Mundy's description and sketch from 1656, it may have survived until about 1815. Extinction was probably due to predation by introduced rats and cats.

Food
Primarily the eggs of Sooty Tern (Onychoprion fuscatus).
