Subspecies
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:
- personata Sharpe, 1895 - Eastern Ethiopia.
- yavelloensis (Benson, 1947) - Southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya (south to Dida Galgalu Desert).
- mcchesneyi (Williams, JG, 1957) - Marsabit Plateau, in northern Kenya.
- intensa (Rothschild, 1931) - Central Kenya.
