Habitat
Lowland forest, forest edge and secondary growth. From sea-level - 1,000 m, occasionally occurring up to 1,180 m.

Range (Guide)

Philippines (B) (NB).

Panay and Negros, in west-central Philippine Is.

Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status EN
Habitat destruction and degradation, particularly selective logging of large trees, is the main threat.

Subspecies
Commonly placed in genus Stachyris. The populations on the two islands are reported to differ from one another sufficiently to warrant recognition of two subspecies. Further research is required.
