Subspecies
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:

pinicola Parkes, 1958 - Western Luzon (south to Bataan), in northern Philippines.
cyaniceps (Cassin, 1855) - Eastern, central and southern Luzon and Catanduanes.
sauli Bourns and Worcester, 1894 - Tablas. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Tablas Fantail (Rhipidura sauli).
albiventris (Sharpe, 1877) - Ticao, Masbate, Panay, Guimaras and Negros, in central Philippines. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Visayan Fantail (Rhipidura albiventris).
