Habitat
Lowland and mid-montane forest. From sea-level - 1,100 m, but very occasionally up to 2,150 m.

Range (Guide)

Philippines (B).

Panay, Guimaras (probably extinct) and Negros, in west-central Philippines.

Population
Estimated population is 10,000 - 19,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Habitat destruction through selective logging of large trees, conversion to agriculture, plantations, urban development are the main threats.

Voice
Loud, sharp whistles 'tseeuu', sometimes running together to form a jangled phrase.

Subspecies
Species previously known as Coracina panayensis, but that name preoccupied by a subspecies of Bar-bellied Cuckooshrike (Coracina striata).

No subspecies.

Similar Species
Bar-bellied Cuckooshrike (Coracina striata) which is larger and lacks white in wing.
