Subspecies
Probably forms superspecies with Luzon Scops-Owl (Otus longicornis). Formerly treated as subspecies of either Oriental Scops-Owl (Otus sunia) or Eurasian Scops-Owl (Otus scops), but differs greatly from both in morphology and vocalizations.
