Habitat
Primary and secondary forest on flat and rolling terrain. From sea-level - 800 m.

Range (Guide)
Philippines (B).

Palawan I, south-western Philippines.
 
Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Habitat destruction through logging and mining are the main threats.

Subspecies
Has occasionally been considered to form a superspecies with Malay Peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron malacense) and Bornean Peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron schleiermacheri).

No subspecies.

Similar Species
Female with Tabon Scrubfowl (Megapodius cumingii) or female Red Junglefowl (Gallus gallus), but is shorter-legged, longer-tailed and more uniform brown.
