4 - 5; pink with fine chestnut spots; oval; about 53 x 36 mm.
Subspecies
Genus sometimes enlarged to include Aramides, Amaurolimnas and Gymnocrex.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
castaneoventris Gould, 1844 - Northern coasts of Australia from north western Australia through NT to north-western Qld.
