Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 800 m.
Papua New Guinea (B) (NB).
New Britain, in Bismarck Archipelago.
 
Population
Estimated population is 10,000 - 19,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction through forest clearance for conversion to agriculture is the main threat.

A rapidly repeated monosyllabic 'whoo', typically starting low then rising in pitch, becoming faster and louder.
