Subspecies
Populations of central and eastern formerly considered separate subspecies, bella.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

rothschildi (Hartert, 1930) - Cyclops Mts and adjacent ranges, northern Irian Jaya.
pulchella Gray, 1859 - Mountains of New Guinea from Vogelkop to Huon Peninsula and eastern Papua New Guinea.
