Cinnycerthia peruana (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Sepia-brown Wren (Cinnycerthia peruana), Sharpe's Wren (Cinnycerthia olivascens) and Sepia-brown / Fulvous Wren (Cinnycerthia fulva) following SACC (2005).

Formerly treated as conspecific with Sharpe's Wren (Cinnycerthia olivascens) and Sepia-brown / Fulvous Wren (Cinnycerthia fulva).
