Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist lowland and dry forest. From sea-level - 800 m.
Colombia, Panama, Venezuela.
Eastern Panama (eastern from Panamá and Darién) eastern across northern Colombia (south to Huila and northern Meta) and Venezuela (east to Sucre and Monagas, south to northern Bolívar).

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Recent DNA data indicate close relationship with Greater Antillean Oriole (Icterus dominicensis ), Martinique Oriole (Icterus bonana ), St Lucia Oriole (Icterus laudabilis ), Montserrat Oriole (Icterus oberi ) and Puerto Rican Oriole (Icterus portoricensis ).
